Sorry the server isn't up guys! I haven't forgot about it, and will get everything up and running as soon as I can. I'm afraid all I can guarantee is no later than next Wednesday, but it could be any day now. Having problems with our current server company, and have a very busy schedule irl, but we should be live soon.

New Server Company

So, I found that Nitrado's hosting service is much cheaper, so I will be switching to them within the week. I can not give an exact date, but the server will soon go down permanently -- I WILL save the map and all inventories. Then, I will transfer it all to the new server, and post the IP here. Please spread the word, as I don't want to lose any players in this transition.

In addition to saving money, the server RAM will be increasing by a factor of 16. If all goes well, you should seldom, if ever, experience lag unless I'm tweaking plugins. This will, however, throw a player cap of 14 on the server, which I will increase as needed.

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't posted for a while. I've been working hard on the server, adding little conveniences here and there that I think you'll like.

So far, I've added:
- Dueling
- Day vote
- Signshops
- Craftbook
- Removed ice growth
- Less rain
- Jail

Dueling: Dueling allows you to fight a player, with their consent, if they are within 20 blocks of you. I've decided to add this instead of wilderness pvp or a full-time death arena since I've seen how chaotic death arenas are on other servers. They just don't work. So here's how you do it:
   1. Use the command "/duel challenge player" to challenge a player. That player will have to "/duel challenge player" you to accept the duel. Then, you setup the rules/wagers on the duel.
   2. /duel set stake <money> - Sets how much money you are staking.
       /duel set food <on/off> - enables or disables food use.
       /duel set wolves <on/off> - enables or disables wolves.
       /duel set keepitems <on/off> - sets whether you lose your items on death.
       You must BOTH use each of these commands to agree on them. You can skip any of them if you don't want that rule.
   3. Use "/duel confirm" to agree to the terms. Once you both have used this command, the fight to the death is on! Logging out or running away will cause you to lose the duel automatically.

Day vote: To start a vote for day, use "/lvt start", and to start a vote for night, use "/lvt start night". Then, to vote on a vote started, use "/lvt yes" or "/lvt no". Of those that vote, 80% have to agree for the time change to take place. I made it 80% and not 50% so that it isn't necessarily always day on the server. It's supposed to be a survival server, I know, but Notch did add beds, so I thought this setting was fair.

Signshops: Most of you have used the Signshops in drcp's store, but for those who haven't, you can buy/sell even when he is offline by clicking on the signs. Players will soon have permission to make these sign shops, but I'll save that for another post.

Craftbook: I added the mechanisms of Craftbook which allow the addition of many simplifying mechanics. They are as follows:
   1. Bridges:

   3. Elevators:
   4. Readable Bookshelves: Right-click a bookshelf to get a message!
   5. There are two other features, but they're buggy and pretty useless, so ignore them. You can look them up and use them if you want, though.

Removed ice growth: This change actually stemmed from trying to create a city with waterways. Regenerating ice is a hassle more than anything, so I got rid of it. If you guys want it back for some reason, let me know, and I'd be willing to add it back.

Less rain: Due to majority vote to remove rain altogether, I adjusted the rain to only occur every 4 hours for 5 minutes. I felt like this was a fair middle-ground for the few that like rain, and the many MANY (like me) who hate it more than severe joint pain.

Jail: I tried out two jail plugins: one was too simple, and the other was far too complicated. I was just too lazy to configure it. So I just added a "Jailed" group that an admin can add any player too that will instantly remove their build/destroy rights everywhere. That way, we can talk with accused griefers without allowing them to cause more harm.

There is currently an item duplication bug, and Bukkit has not updated, so I can't block it yet. All I can do is ask that our players not use that bug, and that those who have admit it, and remove what they have gained from it. Regardless, rest assured that 1.8 will result in SO many changes, that no one will have an advantage from using it. I'll make sure of it.

Mo' Time for Mo' Creatures

I was afraid that the dolts at the server company wouldn't be able figure out how to install the Mo' Creatures plugin, and they couldn't. So tonight, I'll be sending them step-by-step instructions on how to install it, and hopefully they will do so tomorrow evening. No guarantee that they will come through, since I don't have access to the folders I need to install it myself, but I will push them for as long as it takes.

Also, the votes have been tallied for removing weather from the server. Unfortunately, there was not a unanimous vote, but there was enough of a majority to tone down the weather quite a bit. After I configure the weather (by this weekend), storms should only be a seldom occurrence. I hope that everyone is satisfied with this change. If not, you can always give your input!

Also, it seems that many people want more wars on the server, so we will begin having weekly wars, each lasting 30 minutes to an hour, and you will be informed of the starting time beforehand. This Sunday will be our next war. It will begin at 7:00 pm EST. We will also be implementing a full time death arena, but that probably won't be for another week.

well mo creatures hasn't been installed yet, soon hopeful! I cant wait! I want a flying mount, there sooo cool. hopeful mo creatures will be installed today. ugh not to happy about configuring it thought. but still! those flying mounts!

Mo' Creatures

So we've received a unanimous vote to add the Mo' Creatures mod to add... well, more creatures to the game. Details can be found on the plugin page here:

I am not going to keep all creatures available (pirhannas and werewolves? No thank you.), but the server company has to install this for me. This means that until I have time to configure the creatures (within the next two days), ALL new creatures will be added, so beware! I think that this will be an exciting addition to the server, as well as the game, so bear with me as I make the necessary changes. The creatures I am planning to keep are:

-Cave Ogres

Dolphins and horses can be ridden AND controlled (yay!), and if you breed horses correctly, you can eventually (after much hard work) get a horse that you can FLY with. I'm personally very excited about this plugin, and hope that it will add an entirely new level to gameplay. Can't wait to see you guys flying through the skies upon your noble steeds!

P.S. - Until I configure the plugin, there will also be annoying mobs, namely werewolves and pirhannas. Hint: werewolves can only be killed by a gold sword, so you might want to keep one on you until I can do away with them.

Economy implementation

We've finally implemented iConomy, and so far, it's running smoothly. Below is the price list we'll be using for buying/selling until some players start opening their own shops. You will always be able to sell your goods to an admin, and I'm looking into a plugin that will enable you to sell your valuables without an admin having to be on. Anything not on the list can not be bought/sold from an admin.

Back Up

Well the server company came through. RivalCraft is back baby! We think the underlying problems within the recent lag spikes and crashes have finally been fixed, so stay tuned for zero downtime (we hope)!

First Post

Well guys, RivalCraft has been live for about 15 days now and over 100 people have been on! the servers really taken off! I am so proud of Piq and the rest of the Admin team! Piq has put so much time and effort in to RivalCraft its crazy! this is the servers website! were going to be posting new info and updates about the server alot on here. keep everyone informed! some time soon ill try to put a list of all the Factions. the websites still undergoing major remodeling and building so it might look different later.... don't forget to play :P
